HAPPA could use your help.  We are a registered charity and rely on donations to operate.  Several opportunities exist for you to help HAPPA provide the much needed care required for the horses and ponies under our care.  We could not operate without your help.

Donations can be regular or one time contributions of any amount.  Donations can be made by cash, check, Visa and MasterCard or even by recycling.  Postdated checks and preauthorized credit card deductions are our most popular and favored form of donation.  Donations can also be simple gifts like a bag of apples or carrots or a bale or a ton of hay.

All donations are greatly appreciated.  We are a registered charity and as such provide appropriate charity receipts that you can use to claim the contributions on your tax return thereby you benefit by helping us care for these beautiful animals and you save taxes at the end of the year.

Please become a member / supporter and also please consider one or more of the following ways which you can help the Horse and Pony Protection Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Each of our Horses and Ponies can be sponsored.  Each month it costs nearly $4,000 to operate our facility and provide care for each horse and pony under our care.   All sponsorships are welcome in any denomination.  Please remember we are a registered charity and issue receipts which in turn saves you tax dollars at the end of the year.

HAPPA-NL Monthly Sponsorship

Price: $50 to $100 per month

Similar to the Basic Sponsorship except each month you will get an update on the health and wellbeing of the horse or pony you choose to sponsor along with pictures. 

Our Gold Sponsorship is tailored to the horse or pony lover who is willing to commit to helping HAPPA help provide care for a horse or pony.

HAPPA-NL Monthly Gold Sponsorship

Price: $300 per month

For the ultimate pony enthusiast who cares and can afford to provide for complete care for a pony in need.  The cost of providing care typically is slightly around $300 per month based upon our typical occupancy and based upon average medical and nutritional requirements.  Your sponsorship means that a pony we have rescued and is under our care will be provided for to make them as happy and healthy as possible.  We have so many success stories of the equines that we have cared for…  This would be your success story!  At your option your name will be displayed on their stall indicating your sponsorship and you will be invited to and involved in as much with HAPPA as you can handle.  We presently have one full pony sponsorship and desperately need more.  Because we are a registered charity, your tax savings of this level of donation is over $1,000 per year.  Please consider this if you can.

HAPPA-NL Full Sponsorship - Pony

We are currently working on four simultaneous multi year capital projects.  These are:

1. Pasture Improvement Program

2. Artesian Well

3. Fencing Upgrade

4. Barn Expansion / Replacement

In the near future we will have details on the budget for each project along with the progress we are accomplishing for each project fund.  A progress meter will track each fund.  Corporate sponsorships are available and we would prominently display on permanent signage all major contributors to each of these capital projects.  We have determined these as our needs… not wants and realize we cannot make it happen without your support.

Capital Grants & Capital Funding Projects

Our equines eat approximately 50-70 thousand pounds of hay each year which converts to nearly 3 tons of hay each month.  This cost is a significant portion of our operating budget.  Currently, we are working on building our bank account so we can buy hay in July and August for the upcoming winter.  Donations by farmers of hay will be valued reasonably and fairly and tax deductible gift in kind receipts will be provided for donations.  Please contact us to discuss the particulars involved with respect to gifts in kind.  An alternative is to make either a one time or continuing monthly cash donation noted that the purpose is to provide food.

Hay & Feed Donations

Our equines appreciate receiving any type of gift from halters to fly spray  and from heated water buckets for winter to blankets.  If you know horses and ponies you know they often have many basic needs.  Your kind donation of any supplies is appreciated by our equines.  Please contact us if you would like to help and we can give you an up to date list of priorities.

An easy option for donating supplies is to contribute at the Co-Op store in aid of HAPPA.  Either make a specific purchase or contribute to our HAPPA Co-Op account so that we can purchase what is needed.  Email us your name and the amount contributed and tax receipts will be available for your donation.

We are currently also considering making similar arrangements with local tack shops.  Let us know if you have a supply store or tack shop and are willing to make similar arrangements on our behalf so that your customers can be our supporters.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and are both young and old and everywhere in between.  We are a registered charity run by a volunteer board of directors and operated primarily by volunteers who give their time to make a difference.

Volunteer opportunities range from helping at the sanctuary with feeding, grooming and general maintenance to helping with mail-outs, public awareness or even as simple as helping with fundraising by promoting ticket sales, family fun day, annual HAPPA Dinner or any of our other fundraisers.

We can always use an extra set of hands… It takes a lot of energy, drive and enthusiasm to keep HAPPA doing what we do… For the love of horses and ponies… you can give your time, energy and expertise simply because you care and want to feel that fantastic sense of fulfillment and accomplishment by knowing we together have made a difference. 

Contact us to make arrangements to meet those involved and to find out how you can help.  We will complete volunteer recognition documentation for those who need to complete volunteer hours for recognition programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh program or other similar programs.

We are affiliated with all local recycling depots in the area near the HAPPA Hopeall Sanctuary.

Please drop off your recycling at either of the following locations and indicate that it is for the Horse and Pony Sanctuary in Hopeall.

Currently, we are setup with the recycling depots in the following communities:

We are currently scrambling to raise funds for hay for this winter.  We buy tons of hay in the summer for the winter.
